Sergio Mattarella: "We must tackle courageous reforms to overcome the weaknesses of the system"

“Autonomy has found adequate valorization and it has become clear that it proves to be effective and advantageous for the community, particularly when it involves the exercise of functions and competences according to a reasonable application of the principles of subsidiarity, adequacy and differentiation”. This was stated by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, speaking at the 4th Festival of the Regions and Autonomous Provinces, at the Palazzo Ducale in Venice, urging to address "with courageous reforms the weak points of the economic and institutional system".
The National Health System is "subject to a dynamic of increasing costs and for which, in addition to the problem of resources, there are needs for rationalization and requalification to improve the services offered to citizens. A unitary strategy and collaboration between institutions are necessary to overcome intolerable gaps between the different regional health systems and guarantee universal coverage and uniform access to services throughout the Republic, essential objectives of a National Health Service", added the Head of State.
